Stupid Reviews on My Game!

Hi there,

I made a text adventure on The Stanley Parable last year, and ever since, I've been getting a few bad reviews from it simply because... get this... it wasn't the actual Stanley Parable game! Yes! Kids (I assume) come to my game thinking it is the real thing, and when they find it's not (big surprise), they give bad reviews and comments and usually vote it 0-2 stars! I am outraged that they think they can do this to me and it really hurts to see a game I worked on for so long is being bashed for really no reason at all.

Is there any kind of response mechanism I can use to reply to these bastards? I can't just sit back and take this!

Thanks,

Nintendex

Could you link to the game's listing? I'm not familiar with this authoring system, but I'll take a look at it.

I assume people are googling 'The Stanley Parable', finding your game, and assuming it's a playable online version of another game called 'The Stanley Parable', which you appear to have copied. Don't assume everybody is looking at the URL of where they end up, or even necessarily knows what a text adventure is-- you might consider renaming it 'The Stanley Parable: Text Version' and including a link to the original game's site to make it more clear that yours is not the original. That would probably be a good idea anyway, since the way the page is now there isn't even any indication that there IS another game, beyond a copyright notice at the bottom (and I wouldn't know Galactic Cafe wasn't you unless I could figure it out from context), and so it looks like you're presenting the concept as your own work.

Thank you, I will take that into consideration. However, I shouldn't be held responsible for the idiotic behaviour of these people because this is, of course, a TEXT-ADVENTURE site. I will change the description, but damn it, they should've known better and actually paid attention to what they're clicking on.

PM Alex (quest creator) about it (he can fix~remove the bad review ~ not sure if the other mods of quest site have this power or not), as quest community and staff, is still brainstorming possibly better systems, to try to deal with the universal issues of review systems, as seen here:

http://forum.textadventures.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4061

this is a common issue for many people creating games with quest and all the other engines too (or any type of review, as it's not just limited to games, laughs).
