I don't have my e-mail open - it would be handy if there was a signal in the interface if there are new answers.

When you ask a question you can select a checkbox to receive an email notification when there is an answer. The checkbox is enabled by default.

To find out if there are new answers, check your email. If you just made an account you will need to open your email and find the email address confirmation message which has a link to click.
